How are these made?

how are portable applications made? Like mozilla for instance, did the firefox team make the portable version or did someone else do it? If so how?

Using application launchers

Check out the Development section (in progress). Basically, John has created a small program which runs firefox (and the other programs) using special built-in commands that allow it to work portably.

Firefox itself hasn't been changed and the full source code is available for the program that's launching it.
