Notepad++ 8.8.9portable doesnt save settings!?

all suspected files for settings are 1.5h old and i just changed settings.
i'm helpless which file has settings, nor config.ini, Notepad++PortableSettings or whatever is right this way.
i even searched all folders for todays changes to find the right file but same time stamps, from extract or first run time.
its no fun tring to set all from my mind each time.
where are my settings really saved?

The updater integrated into Notepad++ has allowed itself to be infiltrated by malware, which has been installed on some PCs. The developer of the powerful open-source text editor is responding with an update to Notepad++ v8.8.9.

Users currently have to perform the update manually. I suppose, that this won't work properly with the portableapps version, as some files are supposed to be different.

Can anyone provide the update for portableapps soon?

[Closed] Notepad++ 8.8.8 Portable has no Data in Data Folder

i installed shortly Notepad++ 8.8.8 Portable and noticed there is no Data in 'Data' Folder.
it was before 5 folders there with 4mb size.
i did a fresh install, so i think its missing in the package.
after start and close i get 2 folders, config+settings and a ini file.
dont there need to be a themes folder etc?
or did i sthg wrong?

i setted all colors and settings new and the settings ini has only 5 lines (155bytes), so
i think it is saved elsewhere. i thought this is the settings file but i seem to be wrong
could it be config.xml? with 70lines and 21 the word color
we need to examine this
UPDATE it is the config.xml, other file was crash file. added answer/solution.

The portable installer for Notepad++ 8.8.2 is rejected by Microsoft BitDefender and quite some more others:

Maybe you can check, what triggered this?

notepad++ portable from developer seem to be not portable

i think its mess.
it seem not really follow system theme or save settings in config.xml in app directory.
i push this file in new version and am sadly in english and possibly other settings also wrong.
i thought this are big coders, do i miss something?

dont they save language settings?
i fixed now also other settings, but they seem not yet have setting for gui font size inside.
both not nice.
i had to eat and not make phd on the settings.
the messed in very lately version settings in two or three places for the same.
bad bad.

notepad++ portable lost icons menu/bar

no idea what happend, i miss since a time the icons for save and all the stuff.
is this a bug, new standard behaviour or what?

manual installing an app as standard PortableApps

I am trying installing MT4 as standard PortableApps, since to clear documentation I used AI to figure out how to implement structure and in related installation files, I almost did most part of the structure used, note that with /portable we can run mt4 as portable, I intentionally had moved some common files to a common folder using
so the steps were :
1. moving common folder so we can use them linked,
2 create the ini files so that portable app can proper list and categorise the terminals
3. (Missing part) creating the exe file that would call actual exe
Any idea please let me know

Output of ${DriveFreeSpaceCustom} $3 is in MB. It should be converted to KB because output of ${GetSize} $4 is in KB.
Otherwise all calculation in Lines 1070 to 1088 are all wrong.

Similar calculations in Line 594 and 950 are correct.

The path to Notepad++ may not be compatible with other programs or systems

The "++" in the path has been replaced to a space, but the rest of the settings, including the configuration in the ini file, were not adjusted, making the whole software unusable. If you force open the program in Explorer, it will cause the program to read the configuration file incorrectly, resulting in data loss.

Notepad++ portable windows theme settings not activable!!!

why is notepad++ portable setting follow windows design disabled?
it's greyed out.

nor the portable version from here (two ver. behind) either the newest from 30 nov have enabled 'follow windows' theme.
it seem to follow windows theme partially anyway.
sadly is the app background orange and active text white on grey or grey on grey, unreadable!
any ideas?

notepad++ ignores settings?!

(edit: any idea which of the 20 apperance settings in windows, i mean windows, link, and so on, for the active tab in notepad++? hope someone knows the solution.)
i have everywhere white tab and windows names only notepad++ makes false black on black on the active tab so not readable!
only active tab, other are gray on black, so ok.
i checked in a windows tv app, tabs right white on black, other voreground window has active inner title black on white.
the sidebar on the left of notepad++ shows file names white on black.
another app has black titles on black-white or black to white shades background.

however, why does have notepad++ the oposite text color to all other apps in tabs?
it should be also white text!
what can be the reason?!

they seem not work professional as have no release notes.

Kanri Portable?

Seems like Kanri portable is anything but portable:
AppData/Local/tech.trobonox.kanri/*

Stores loads of files (electron?) in the appdata folder. Nice app, but need to avoid as it's really not very portable.
